New employees are to be given a TD1 form CRA “Personal Tax Credit Return” as part of the payroll input information at time of hire. This form is to be completed and returned to the payroll department within 7 days of hire. The information assists the payroll group in making the correct income tax deductions. It is good practice to issue a current year TD1 to each employee (electronically) at the beginning of the year. Employees can determine if their tax credit situation (no longer a student or now providing certain care giving to family members etc) has changed. Yearly TD1 forms are available through the CRA website.
